About DSD on iPhone: NetMusic decodes DSF and DFF audio to PCM for playback. It does not claim native, bit-perfect DSD output. The final sample rate and output path also depend on iOS, the connected DAC and its capabilities.

Play a FLAC or DSD file

  1. Add the source. Connect the cloud drive, NAS, WebDAV server, Navidrome server or local transfer source that stores the file.
  2. Select and sync its folder. Add the music folder so NetMusic can index the file and its metadata.
  3. Unlock Pro. FLAC and DSD playback require the one-time NetMusic Pro unlock.
  4. Open the song. Find it under Songs, Albums, Artists or Folders and tap to play.
  5. Check the player details. The Now Playing screen shows available format, sample-rate and bit-rate information.

Settings Supported Audio Formats

The Supported Audio Formats page shows the current extensions and whether each format requires Pro. It also separates formats that are not supported yet; WMA may appear in file browsers but is not currently playable.

Streaming versus downloading

FLAC and especially DSD files can be large. Streaming works best on fast, stable Wi-Fi. For travel, download the album or enable offline mode for a playlist before leaving the network.

  • Prefer a wired or strong Wi-Fi connection for large DSD files.
  • Leave enough free iPhone storage for offline copies.
  • If remote playback pauses, download the track and test the local copy.
  • Keep the original filename extension so NetMusic can route it to the correct decoder.

External DAC guidance

An external USB DAC can provide higher-capability output than the iPhone speaker or a Bluetooth connection, but the actual result depends on the DAC, adapter, iOS audio route and source file. Bluetooth playback is re-encoded by the selected Bluetooth codec and should not be described as bit-perfect lossless output.

If a file will not play

  • Confirm the file extension matches the actual format and is not merely renamed.
  • Open Settings › Supported Audio Formats and verify that the format is supported.
  • Check that Pro is unlocked for FLAC, DSD and the other listed lossless formats.
  • Download the file to rule out a network or server-range-request problem.
  • If only one file fails, test another file of the same format; the source file may be incomplete or damaged.
