Play music from WebDAV on iPhone

Connect the WebDAV storage you already use, choose the folders that contain music and stream them in NetMusic without uploading to a new service.

What you need

Have the WebDAV server address, username and password ready. If the server is on a NAS at home, keep the iPhone on the same Wi-Fi network for setup. NetMusic can also scan the local network for compatible services.

Use HTTPS when possible. HTTPS protects your login and music traffic. Use plain HTTP only on a network you trust or through a secure VPN.

Connect the server

NetMusic Sources + Self-Hosted Sources WebDAV

  1. Open Add Source. Tap Sources, then tap the plus button beside Added Sources.
  2. Choose WebDAV. Tap WebDAV under Self-Hosted Sources.
  3. Scan or enter the address. Tap Scan Local Network to look for a nearby server, or choose HTTP/HTTPS and enter the IP address or domain manually. A subpath such as nas.example.com/music is allowed.
  4. Add the port and account. Leave the port blank for the default 80/443, or enter your server’s custom port. Then enter the username and password.
  5. Connect. Tap Connect. After authentication, browse the server and choose the music folders NetMusic should add.
  6. Wait for the library sync. NetMusic indexes the selected folders so songs can appear under artists, albums, songs, genres and folders.

Choose only the folders you need

After connecting, select the folder or folders that contain audio instead of indexing an entire drive. You can later open the source’s menu and choose Manage Folders to add, edit, sync or remove paths. Removing a folder from NetMusic removes its local index; it does not delete the source files.

Troubleshooting

  • If the scan finds nothing, enter the address manually and verify that Local Network access is enabled for NetMusic.
  • If authentication fails, test the same username and password in another WebDAV client and confirm the account can read the selected folder.
  • If the server uses a self-signed or expired certificate, replace it with a valid certificate instead of bypassing the warning.
  • If a folder appears empty, confirm the account has listing permission and that the files use supported audio extensions.

Make WebDAV music available offline

Open a song’s More Actions menu and tap Download, or enable offline mode for a playlist. The NAS offline guide explains how to verify and manage those downloads.
