Connect and index the NAS first
Open Sources and add the protocol your NAS exposes. Use SMB for a local network share, WebDAV for WebDAV storage, or a compatible music server such as Navidrome. Select only the folders that contain music, then let the first library sync finish.
Download one song
Library › song › More Actions › Download
- Find the song. Browse Artists, Albums, Songs, Folders or search the library.
- Open More Actions. Tap the ellipsis beside the song.
- Tap Download. NetMusic shows download status while it saves the file to the device.
- Verify it. Open Library and tap Downloaded. Play the song once before leaving the network if you want a final check.
Keep a playlist offline
For a group of songs, open the playlist’s ellipsis menu and tap Enable Offline Mode. NetMusic downloads missing tracks and marks the playlist as offline. If the playlist changes later, reopen the menu to update its downloads.
Playlists › playlist menu › Enable Offline Mode
Downloaded versus Smart Cache
| Local copy | Purpose | What happens when cache is cleared |
|---|---|---|
| Saved Offline / Downloaded | You intentionally keep the song on the device. | It remains available. |
| Smart Cache | NetMusic temporarily keeps streamed songs for smoother repeat playback. | It can be cleared to recover space. |
| Wi-Fi import | The file was transferred directly into the app. | It is not removed by clearing Smart Cache. |
Before you go offline
- Open Library › Downloaded and confirm every required song appears.
- Make sure download progress has finished; a queued item is not yet available offline.
- Check free iPhone storage, especially for FLAC, APE or DSD collections.
- If you use an external DAC, connect and test it before travel.
Manage storage later
Open NetMusic settings and library management to review download storage, clear completed download records or remove local files. Turning off offline mode for a playlist removes its playlist-managed downloads after confirmation; it does not delete music from your NAS.
